I was just thinking that so far (it's 7:30 pm. here) this has been a good day. Then I realized, wow, my idea of what a good day is really has changed! Here's what I mean--today was uneventful--woke up with sinus headache, got DH off to daycare, went to exercise class, came home and showered, etc., picked up DH at daycare, went to bank, both of us had urology appointments, went to Home Depot, came home and made dinner, cleaned up, will watch TV this evening. DH has been in a particularly cheerful mood--that helped. But in my former life--this wouldn't have been a particularly good day at all--I don't really love to exercise--there wasn't a single activity until after dinner where I could relax. Not even a phone call with a friend! But I do appreciate this kind of a day now--nothing broke down, no crises, bad news, bad moods or bad behavior from DH. That's it! Now I can appreciate a day where nothing bad happens--that constitutes a good day for me.
MarilyninMD, it is funny how our take on life changes. I now look forward to an hour at the gym. I look forward to mundane days now as well. Hubby just got laid off for the 4th time and knows now he can not work. Today was my first day back to work since the 23rd of Dec. and it hit him hard when I left and he didn't. It was not a good day. He is so down, I have to find something for him to do.
I returned to work today from the Holidays. Someone asked my how my Holidays were and I replied "uneventful". These days that is all most of us can hope for . We managed to get a little sleep last night, he made it to the toilet this morning without wetting himself, was cooperative with his daytime caregiver and sat through a doctors appointment without getting up and walking out half way through. Yeah, we had a good day too.
My day was much like MarilyninMD's. Not too much trouble getting DW up and dressed. She ate breakfast and took her meds without too much argument. Then went willingly to Day Care. I then exercised (first time in 2 weeks so I really feel it), went to Lowes and Walmart (to help stimulate the economy), grabbed a quick lunch at Burger King, and drove out to our family home to pick up the MCT I forgot when we left after the holidays. On a down note, I could not find the key to our safe-deposit box. I have no idea where it went. Then a brief discussion with my sister, shopping for food, and off to a meeting of the advisory committee for the day care center. Picked DW up and came home in time to go down for supper (provided in the retirement home we live in). We have just watched Jeopardy. So I guess this would be classed as a good day.
My day started off with icy rain, and after dressing for work, I got a phone call that power was off in our building and not to go to work, but to call at 10 a.m. and noon, etc. and listen to the emergency messages to see if the power is back on and when we need to go to work today. So, since I was dressed, I headed for the dentist to get a crown re-glued first thing (instead of calling from the office and hoping for a noon appointment), went to the bank for my daugther, then to the tuxedo store to see about getting my husband a pair of pants a size larger than last time, then to Walmart (like Marsh, I love to stimulate the economy - plus get my TurboTax CD for this year), then home. After putting away the groceries and Depends, I called the office message service and found I had 15 minutes to get to work - the power was back on! It was lunch time though, so I finished my sandwich before going in. It was a short day, and all my errands for the next few days were done! Yes, I would classify this as a good day,
Yeah! Finally after two weeks without a furnace and hot water the repair guys came today. I just got through taking the most lovely shower and the house is warm. That's what I call a good day.
Jules wins for sure! I had the contractor here to check out the collapsed awning and deck railing ruined during the snow/ice storm. The whole thing needs to be replaced, and it isn't going to be quickly done as all of the NW is in a mess from this latest weather. The insurance company is giving me grief (why do we pay these horendous premiums monthly to get grief when we report a claim? Especially after 40 years of being their member with few claims) and since the awning has collapsed, we feel like we are in a dark cave....but we have power and heat...no plumbing problems ...YET...so Jules defintely wins :-)
Jules defintely does win...I can't image 2 weeks without heat or hot water. Yesterday, was a good day for me, husband did not object to taking a shower. All day was as gentle as a lamb.
Yeah!!!! I love to win something, even if it is just your votes that I had a good day. Thanks all for the smile, too. Frosting on my cake of a good day.
#1 After collapsing from heart failure due to opening of a cell phone bill I get an ANGEL on the line who kept reminding me to "R-E-L-A-X!" (that was on the 20th)
#2 Getting a text message from AT&T wireless that an adjustment was made to my bill.
#3 TODAY!: Going on line, registering for online account managing, seeing the adjustment, and the amount due. Paying it online too (since it was due today).
FYI: we switched to AT&T mid November. Got the family talk plan with unlimited texting, and temporarily signed up for internet access as required to get my rebates on the phones. First bill was minor, only covered a few days. The last bill came saying our ONE MONTH bill was $3,617.79. AAAAaaaak! After talking to the Angel I was better, but due to the high amount of adjusting it had to go to higher ups as her authority ends at $250.00. Waiting was painful (10+ days) but she was very reassuring that anyone with half a brain would know that the mother of two teenagers does NOT sign up for a family plan and give herself unlimited texting and internet access and NOT put it on the teenagers phones too. Especially when the bill clearly reflects that all the texting and internet is done by the kids. LOL! The final bill was $212.15. PHEW!
I know we're really talking AD related good days, but this was enough of a horrible distraction that to have it resolved TODAY, well it makes dealing with DH and his AD much easier.
Actually, I was going to have to get myself evaluated for AD if the AT&T powers-that-be insisted that I signed myself up for those teen-age frills and expected the teens to just answer their phones when they ring. LOL!
