For about two months now, my husband has been whistling almost non stop. It's just a low drone constant whistle. It's very quiet and low but it is audible. Sometimes I wake up in the night and hear him. I look over and he's sleeping but his lips are pursed and he is whistling. IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS. He is the late stage of AD and many yucking things are happening.......ever so slowly......but at a much faster pace than in years before. Has anyone else experienced this. It's needless to say, but there is absolutely no way to stop it. I can tell him to stop but in a split second, he's at it again. I wish his brain would tell him to talk to me instead the telling him to whistle. That ain't gonna happen....so live with it I do but I am curious as to whether anyone else has dealt with this.

I have heard of constant humming. Maybe it soothes them. (But not us)

Interesting. For ME constant humming/barely audible whistling is (apparently) a stress reliever. In the past my DH knew when I was very stressed if I did that. I am not even aware...it's not conscious. Of course now he does not notice, but I have noticed I do that since we've been dealing with all this.

My Mother-In-Law who was in late stage also whistled, as you said it was low, however constant. She evidently stopped, however, so did her speech.

My husband makes this weird sound--kind of like a cross between a sigh and a horse's whinny. Drives me nuts...especially when we are in the car.

My DH does a low whistle/hum most of the time. When I ask him to stop, he does and then starts over. I guess it is some kind of unconscious thing, he does not even realize he's doing it.

I used to whistle more or less constantly. I was always told "whistling girls and crowing hens..etc" My daughter HATED it when she was little, still does. I'd STOP when she'd yell STOP WHISTLING! My husband doesn't but sometimes I can say, I'm not going to .. (take off your shoes, get your fresh whitie, whatever) .. until you stop making those noises..

Whistling effects both sides of the brain perhaps helping to create new brain cells a body defense, Curcumin {tumeric} perhaps could help dissolve protiens in the brain that might becausing damage also should have Dr. check for Magnesium RBC Serum to see if it is low that effects the whole body also should check the ferritin, transferritin, and TIBC to see if there is an iron overload insist on this
Tumeric can be put in food are get curcumin pill form

    RING

I often wonder how you are doing. Are you able to get away for a few hours, maybe coffee or lunch in Prescott? I now live in Kingston so that is about half way. It would be nice to see you. Have you had contact with Bonnie?
