The hospice doctor took Claude off his Exelon and Namenda about 2-1/2 weeks ago. I really hadn't noticed a change in him; I guess since I am with him 24/7. But our daughter mentioned he was much more confused and forgetful than he was while he was on the meds. I can see the changes now that she mentioned it.
He has been on them for several years. He has been declining and has developed balance problems as he has falled several times in the last year.
Has anyones LO been taken off meds and then put back on them? I know the Exelon has to be started in graduated doses, but can't rember about the Namenda. I told the hospice nurse this morning and she is going to talk to the hospice doc tomorrow during their regular patient meeting.
both of them may have to work up to the projected doseage-i know the namenda does -my DH is off namenda now since jan and doing ok, the speech did decline but there was some improvements otherwise so i was happy with the tradeoff. hope the hospice folks and work it out for you.Divvi
