I read an article today that Peter Falk's daughter has gone to court to get guardianship over her father because his Alzheimer's leaves him vulnerable to those wanting to get him to give things to them, or to sign over properties, etc. She did not publicly come out and say her father has AD, but because she went to court, the reporters reported what was filed. I'm sorry that anyone gets this disease. I'm doubly sad that an actor that I have admired most of my life has it.
I hope that they find both the cause and the cure during our lifetimes. That is my most fervent prayer. (Then patience)
Ummmm - how sad ........ just goes to show AZ/Dementia makes no special choices as to where to land ...... it hits the very rich, the very poor, the very educated, the very talented .......... (shaking my head)
He has been in numerous Christmas shows on the Hallmark Channel in the last few weeks. I'm sure they are several years old. We always watched Columbo and enjoyed his comedy roles in some of these Christmas movies they have shown this year.
He is truly one of the great "Character Actors" of all times. Sorry to hear that his family is traveling this road with us.
the public figure who went public on this that hit me hardest was ronald reagan. I do remember his acknowledging how very hard this was going to be on nancy and how bad he felt about it. How she must have hugged that memory when he could nolonger express such things. My husband and I spent many hours discussing this as we were both admirers, We did not know at that time that my husband was also on this road, Some of those discussion were what I used to base my handling of the situation as once he was diagnosed he immediately went into denial and would not discuss anything to do with what wAS going to happen.
