Andrea passed away peacefully today about 1:30 pm. Thank you for all your messages and kind thoughts. It touches me so much to know that she had so many people keeping thoughts out for her. I know with all your prayers that she was lifted straight up to heaven. She never knew you, but you made a difference for both of us, keeping up my outlook on a day to day basis. Thank you...

    York (and Tina and Andrew)

I think the poem beenthere posted says what you've done, "love me till my life is done". You certainly did that. I feel honored to have been a part of your dialogue and send you and your family loving thoughts as you come to terms with the totality of death.
  4.
York-you are an inspiration to us all. I hope you now find peace and can remember happier times.

    York,

I hope you don't mind - I added "Andrea is at peace" to your discussion title, because I wanted to make sure all of the members of our Alzheimer Spouse family knew what the topic was about. I know they will want to send their prayers and condolences to you.

You have been a source of strength and inspiration to all of us. I hope and pray that you can now find comfort in knowing that you did all you could with love and devotion, and that Andrea is now at peace.

My best to you and your family.

I too, hope you and your family will begin the new stage of recovery as you honor Andrea's life now. The life you knew BEFORE. These will be different days now but among them, I hope that you all find many filled with assurance and peace. You and Frand and others here have forged ahead through the final stages of this horrid disease, helping the rest of us learn important lessons of grace and courage. I pray that you feel a sense of victory in a job 'well done'. Thank you so much for sharing.

There are times when the answer we seek is not the answer we want, but we are left to deal with what is. For you and Andrea "what is" was Alzheimers and a very hard and winding road through it. Your continous, unfaltering love got you both through. Your love allowed Andrea the best ending possible to her journey. Now, you and your family, knowing she is finally at peace, can carry her in your hearts as you grieve losing her (but not her passing). You can celebrate the conquering of this horrible disease. Your love proved stronger than everything it threw at you.
When ever you can, please continue to share what you learned with us. We're still on the Dementia Road and can use all the knowledge and support we can find.

As my Daughter said, at the age of 2," Don't be sad. She's way up past the sky with God." There is no place better for her to be now. Peace be with you and your family.

    York,
So sorry to hear of you loss. I know you were expecting it, but when it is final, well. You were a devoted husband until the end. You were lucky to have each other and I believe love lives on. Thank you for sharing your life with Andrea with us. A big hug for Tina too. We will be thinking of you and hoping your transition is as best as it can be.
