My wife and I went out for dinner last night. There was an older lady in the booth across from us and she must have noticed my helping my wife with her coat, with ordering or helping her use the right utensile. Anyway, as she left, she placed her hand on my forearm and said, " God bless you."
That little gesture felt so good. At least someone else understands what we are going through.
Isn't it amazing how much a little compassion, understanding, gratitude, and encouragement can do? Just having a stranger notice and acknowledge caregivers is a gift.
