MY DH'S RIGHT HAND AND FINGERS ARE SWELLING. I NOTICED IT,AND I WONDER WHAT THIS COULD BE? HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY SCRAPES OR BRUISES,SO IT'S NOT A FALL. IS THIS SOMEHOW RELATED TO AD? CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH SOME SUGESTIONS? IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A FEW DAYS.SEEMS TO GO DOWN AND THEN IT WILL BE SWOLLEN AGAIN. JAV
I am not sure what causes it jav, My husband swells periodically..feet and hands and then it goes away. Someone suggested it could have to do w/canned foods...soup etc. They have a high salt content so I try to stay away from them. I would be interested to hear what others have to say about swelling.
My DH feet and ankles swell occasionally. I notice it after he has ate some salty foods. I have to watch salt also, so except for occasional ham and bacon I seldom use salt. The PCP phoned in a mild diuretic and I use it when it happens and he is usually back to normal in a couple weeks then I discontinue until next time. His feet never swelled before this summer and his blood pressure is way below normal. I would call your PCP.
I just mentioned this to someone. I can't connect it with what we eat, but my DH ring is sometimes very tight on his finger and then other times it almost fall off. His blood pressure has been normal or low. He also woke up last night and said he was burning up. This happens sometimes...doesn't feel like he has a fever, but is sweaty.
My husband sweats up the bed almost every night. At this point with the temperatures going down I'm wearing pjs with long pants and short sleeves. He is still in shorts and a sleeveless top. The bed was soaked this morning. Because of where the soaking is, it is obvious that he is making it to the bathroom OK. He also has some swelling of the feet, but always did. BP is normal with his BP drug(s).
jav, I'd get him to a doctor pronto. Something like too much salt would cause general swelling of feet/ankles and hands, not just one hand.
It could be a blood clot, and if it is and it breaks loose and travels to the brain or the heart, he's got a big problem -- possible stroke or heart attack.
