I discovered this site a few months ago. I appreciate the work that Joan and her son put into this. My heart goes out to all of you, especially those who care for children and spouses and also work outside the home.

My husband and I are 76 and 58, married 26 years, no children. He has been on meds for 4 years but personality/memory changes started 10 years ago. He has never had insight into his condition. Has obsessive-compulsive issues, delusions, and doesn’t know who I am at times. Most of what he talks about is confabulation.

Recently, his neurologist said my DH has moved from mild to moderate. I think it’s toward the end of stage 5. It has been tough to deal with the uncertainty, monotony, frustration, and resentment.

    Thanks for listening.

    Welcome Evalena

Glad you came out. We need more posters. I know how tough it is and you are younger than I am. Keep checking this site and keep us updated on your husband.

Another May-December couple! Welcome, Evalena. My husband is 77 and I'm 58, together for 19 years. My husband is solid stage 5, some traces of stage 6. He was officially diagnosed with moderate AD three years ago, and has never had any insight into his problems, either ... which is probably a blessing, since the problems don't bother him. He has had such an unusual background, it's sometimes hard for me to tell if he's confabulating. :-)

Thanks for the welcomes. My husband also shows traces of stage 6. I guess there's always a bit of an overlap with this.
