I found a simple TV remote with just controls on it for the TV. It is made by Sony and I ordered it from one of the Home Medical companies. It will not work with DVD or Video players. It has large easy to read buttons with Vol. up and down and Ch up and down, mute, (recall and CBL - whatever they are) DH can use it most of the time.

Does it work with a dish? I would love to find just ONE that G could use without totally screwing up the system. Our old one was a Sony, but it doesn't work with the new HD tv and receiver.

I got my husband a "Weemote" they were originally made for kids, but there is an adult version too. It has differnt shaped buttons - star, square, circle, etc. that you can program for favorite channels. The on-off turns on both the TV and the dish or the cable thing. My son programmed for him - I'm hopeless with electronics. They have a web site - if you Google "Weemote" it will come up.

I don't know about a dish kathi37. Google Sony easy remote and maybe that will tell you.

Copy and paste this link for an easy remote control - http://astore.amazon.com/wwwthealzheim-20/detail/B000UKQR8E/103-3766747-6085409

If that doesn't work, go to the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com, click on the Amazon store on the left, scroll down for "health and personal care", and type in "easy remote control". The first one shown is the simplest.

I purchased the Sony Remote Controll at KMart for $9.99. It is the one Imohr writes about.

Really, there's nothing new under the sun!! I'm totally frustrated because my hb can no longer work the remote. Received our sat bill today and $22 was billed for pay per view. We don't "do" that. I mentioned it to hb. He didn't do it, of course. I've told him countless times which buttons he can use---and why are you laughing hysterically at me???? He's going downhill so fast it's really scary. Anyway, I knew I'd get help on this site and shur nuff my expectations were met. I'll be checking out the recommendations here to find a remote that works w/sat. Now drop on over to the handyman thread and see how he creatively fixed our door problem.

Most cable companies have codes you can use to prevent others from using pay per view or watching R rated stuff also.

Guess I should call DirecTV because I thought I'd locked the PPV and adult channels. Obviously, I didn't--or did it after the "damage" was done--will check.

I had to pay a service call when hubby called the company because he lost the remote. Can't believe they bill for full service.

We have DISH and we can only do pay per view if the receiver is hooked up to a landline, which it isn't.

Correct myself: we have DISH not DIRECTV. I phoned; they do not have a simple remote, but in addition to my blocking, they can bring my account to $0 for PPV so hb can't get PPV. (I didn't even know we had an "account" for PPV--must have slipped it in the fine print.) I can pull the plug from land line, then I'll be charged another $5/mo because it's not hooked up. So, I've taken care of PPV, but not the "complicated" remote w/all those buttons. Checked on one at Amazon and one other--not compatible w/sat or cable. No matter how many times I tell him which buttons he can use, it doesn't compute. I'm the slow learner here, methinks.

Join the crowd, Zibby. My DH is forever messing up the Dish remote. In the beginning it was awful because I didn't know how to "fix it". Now, most of the time, I do. I did put red tape over the buttons he is NOT to use and that has helped some. Didn't go with the land line so don't have a problem with PPV. We never use it anyway and he wouldn't know how to call them. But I really do hate the Dish remote and as far as I can tell, there are none others that are compatible!
