Starling, in the topic "Hurricanes", you mentioned "Allentown, PA"...my mom's late husb was from that area, & owned & operated the pizzera "Tony's" for years...do you know of that eatery? Just wondering...

I don't actually live in Allentown. I live in Lower Macungie. So I don't really know Allentown itself. I think I've heard about Tony's, but have never eaten there.

Until quite recently my husband wouldn't let me order pizza for a meal. I've actually managed to do that twice for lunch recently. Order it and bring it home to eat. WOW! I really missed pizza. There is a local restaurant that does a pretty good job on it. He told me it was good when I bought some this week.

Thanks Starling -- I too LOVE pizza & want to try the new Pizza Hut "healthy/organic" one...it looks good & surely it isn't as bad for us as the "real" one...if I eat the healthy one, then I can have icecream too, right?! :)

Starling, I may be wrong, but i thought a bit ago you were discussing the various options for meds for my husband with FTD. At the time he was on Exelon and had tried the other major two. He had to stop the Exelon as his body couldn't deal with any longer, and is now back trying Namenda. He stopped that before at week three as it just destroyed him...he was a zombie. I think he is headed that way again and this is just week two. Have others been effected this way from this drug that you know of?

If he has FTD, he shouldn't be on dementia drugs, although I can understand why they tried them. They tried them because if they had worked he would have had slowed down symptoms. But with FTD it is not unusual for them not to be able to tolerate them, and sometimes they backfire as it seems to have done with your husband.

My husband has an event driven version of Vascular Dementia. He is doing very well on a combination of dementia drugs. He probably has Alzheimer's as well since I can tell that he had some symptoms well before his event. Sometimes the dementia drugs work on non-Alzheimer's patients so it has become common to try them out. If they don't work there literally is nothing else they can try except for the anti-anxiety and antipsychotic drugs if they are necessary.

My DH has AD and has been on Exelon patch for 10 months and Namenda for 4 months. I've not seen any change in him at all. I don't notice it slowing down the progress much but he isn't like a zombie. He does sleep quite a bit. Is that part of it. What symptoms do you folks have? should I be looking out for something?

Hi Mawzy, G has been on 2 a day Namenda for five days now, and he is totally different. He is very confused (especially in the AM), and agitated and aprehensive in the AM and early PM. He wasn't like this before, and least not to this extent. His Neuro just returned my call and we are suspending the Namenda for a week to see if that is the problem...shall see, but as he said, we are out of options.

Another question for you Starling: my son lives in Allentown, Hopewell Drive. It's either Upper Macungie or Lower Macungie, I always forget which, quite near Air Products. Are you near there?
Up until last year we visited Son and DIL and three kids about 3 times a year, but travel is more difficult now so I think it will be Christmas before we get there.
