Those of you who have been following my website since the beginning are aware that I never want to offend anyone, and I do not wish to do so with this post. But this is extremely important to me, and I hope that everyone will respect my wishes. In this highly charged political season, I want to remind everyone that this is NOT a political website, and this is NOT a message board for political debate or opinion. There are plenty of them on the Internet for that. Those who have been writing for awhile are aware of the fact that Google put up some very prominent video image political ads during the primaries, and I immediately had them removed. It was irrelevant to me which candidate they promoted. I refused ALL political ads, including those for the candidate I supported.
Everyone is entitled to their political views. I certainly have mine. But I will never use this website to publicize or promote them, and I ask that you respect my wishes on this.
The only time I have ever expressed anything related to politics was when I went to Washington to lobby for more Alzheimer funding. If anyone feels that violates my "no politics" policy for my website, I will scale back my reporting of my trip next year.
Yes, Joan, keep reporting anything dealing with or advocating for Alzheimer's. That is not political. Thank you for keeping politics out of this web site.
Joan, I think your policy is the only way we will all be able to stay here during the next few months. Thank you. I need this place to stay sane.
As for the advocating for Alzheimers and dementia in general, go ahead and do that. It really is not a poitical issue. It is a policy issue. The government already funds medical research. Both parties agree that is necessary. They just need to understand the need for this particular kind of medical research.
Well, due to no power, I missed it, thank goodness! I'm here for friendship, support, hugs and love - which I have had in abundance since finding this website! I don't want to discuss politics or religion. My husband and I didn't discuss them either, since we couldn't agree! <grin>
Thanks Joan for keeping this website politics free. Today is finally election day and I am on line avoiding the TV because I am tired of seeing it there, too. Please DO keep us informed of anything AD related, political or otherwise...Knowledge is power and we need all the ammo we can get to fight this AD war.
It has also been refreshing and a refuge from all the political craziness to be able to come here and not have to face more of it in any way. I think we will all be glad when it is over no matter who wins.
Re guilt and LO not driving and being housebound - my LO has not been driving for three months. It has been good in that I don't have to worry and we have been joined at the hip. It is a big change in our lives and took some adjusting but seems to be working. I have not had to leave him home alone unless he wanted to stay, but I also feel guilty about having him be housebound. He has people he could call that would be glad to help, but he never would and will get mad with me if I call someone. He is not a good traveler in that he gets mad in an instant and wants to jump out of the car - so staying close to home works for us. I can't imagine what it will be like for you to have the experience of the travel, conference and having to caretake as well. You will be in my prayers.
