I hope this post doesn't offend anyone, however, I have noticed that we all have been getting off the subject on many post. Joan is trying to keep the board organized, by getting off the subject, in my opinion it is prompting more work for Joan. I know we all appreciate & are thankful to Joan for creating a place where we have friends & feel safe to come for help. She is under the same stress we all are, so let's try to help her out by keeping to the subject posted.
Again, I don't mean to offend anyone.

I agree, and have been guilty of it more than once. I will reform!

    Kadee,

THANK YOU! It would also help if everyone would click "search" before they start a topic. There are over 900 topics, so chances are good, you can add to one, rather than start a new one. And if you are going to veer off topic, click out of the one you are in, and go to "search" again to put your comments into the right topic. It's not just for me - it is helpful to all members when they are looking for help and advice in a particular area.

Joan, You are very welcome. I didn't realize until recently that we could search a subject. I will use the search button more often. Thank you again for providing this great site.

Thank you again Joan for this wonderful site! I do try to do the searches to make it easier for everyone to
find the topics. I was thinking the same thing about certain topics, the VA comes to mind, we have a
number of topics on this alone. Too bad we couldn't help you keep things organized, its a big task!
I appreciate all you do, thanks again! ~Nikki

Joan, is it possible for you to give limited moderator status to a few of us? Not complete status, but just limited status?

I was a moderator on a digital scrapbooking site. In the beginning I only could do very limited things in the single forum that "belonged" to me. And I had a special email address I could use to flag something that needed to be dealt with. Later I was given more general powers because the very few things I'd flagged had actually needed immediate attention, so I had "worked" my way into more abilities.

Will this forum software allow you to do that? If so, one or two of us might be able to do things like move postings, or do some clean up.

Every forum I've ever been on develops a certain amount of conversational movement. It is the nature of the beast.

    Joan,
How could members use categories to classify discussions? I think this would help alot in organization.

I agree starling, it is only natural for a conversation to flow... it is what is wonderful about forums.
It is what connects us and forms the bonds. If we could just work on searching
topics before we post a new thread or discuss issues, that would help a lot I think. IMHO of course

    Lizbeth and all,

There is a category section, but forget it. I have tried 3 times to utilize it, and no one pays any attention to the categories, and the discussions get even more mixed up. For now, the best option is to use the "search" key before starting any discussion or when looking for a discussion. For example, if you type in EOAD, at least 4 different discussions come up on slightly different EOAD topics. So you have your choice as to which one your topic fits.

    Starling,

I have a friend who reads these boards religiously every night, and she alerts me to things that need my attention. And no, there is no way for anyone to get in here to edit and delete what other people write except me.

Joan, I was afraid of that. Too bad your friend can't actually do stuff instead of just the flagging. I know that the flagging does help, because the person who owned the digital scrapbooking site found it helpful.
  1.
Could we have a thread just called off topic as other sites for just letting it all out. I think our fantasy brunch was a good outlet.

    bluedaze,

Good idea. I will set it up now and ask that if anyone feels the need to veer off the serious discussion topic on which they are writing, to please head straight to "Off Topic Musings".

That was a great idea posted by bluedaze. And thank you Joan for starting the new topic. As my friend in England would say "YOU ARE A STAR"
