Been a long time since I was here. Don’t know if you even remember me.

After 17 years of battling this disease my spouse peacefully passed on June 3rd.
It’s a bittersweet time. Sad he’s gone but glad he no longer has to live with it.

Hi Amber, I remember you well. I'm sorry about your husband. You have had a long haul and I admire you for determining to go ahead and live your life while continuing to care for him. .

Hello Amber. I am so sorry for your loss. You are right, sad that he is no longer with you, but so glad he isn't living with Alz anymore. While we are in the daily routine of being their caretaker, we sometimes forget that it is much harder for them, as they are no longer able to take care of their loved ones, or even recognize them. Hopefully soon, when you think of him it will always bring a smile, with happy memories to think about.

I remember you Amber. Your husband was diagnosed before mine. It is sad that people out there do not realize dementia especial AD can last from a couple years to decades. My FIL went almost 25 and I dread my husband will which would be another 12 years.

I do have a question and hope you don't think me nosy. Do you still have your gentleman friend in your life? I hope so then you will have support right there by your side as you deal with the loss.

Amber, yes, of course I remember you. So sorry for your loss, even though I'm sure it is a feeling of mixed emotions.
