JOAN’S WEEKEND BLOG – SATURDAY/SUNDAY – DECEMBER 29/30- BEHIND THE SCENES AT THEALZHEIMERSPOUSE.COM

Time out for some important information. I am working furiously behind the scenes here to bring you improvements, updates, and new features for the New Year. Some of these are done deals; some are ideas in the making; some are ready to go, but need my son’s technical expertise in getting them displayed. This is what I have in the works for 2008:

1. A campaign to bring the issues of the AD caregiver spouse out in the open- spouses need to stop feeling guilty and know that they are not alone in their “unique issues”. – Stay tuned for the date of my radio debut.

2. Plans for public speaking engagements  (by me).

3. VIP interviews – I am hoping to bring you insights and information directly from professionals.

4. Alzheimer Book store – I have paired with Amazon.com, so any books our readers recommend will be able to be purchased right here through a link to Amazon. All purchases will help keep this site up and running. This one needs my son to give me instructions on how to set it up.

 5. Continuation of Daily Blogs that address our unique issues – those of the Alzheimer Spouse – If you have any ideas on topics you would like covered, please e-mail me.
 6. Memory Walk Sponsorship . This section has been up for some time, but I have not put up the link for donations because of all of the holiday hubbub and distractions. Putting up that link will be one of my son’s jobs. I hope you will sponsor me – all money raised goes to the Alzheimer’s Association for research and programs. I’m getting in shape for this event – strength training at the gym 3 times a week; and neighborhood walkson the days I don’t go to the gym. If you are looking for honesty, okay, I don’t walk on all 4 of the days I don’t go to the gym. Maybe 3 of those days. Maybe 2. I am putting myself on the line, here – I am going to give you weekly updates on how far I have walked. (Scout’s Honor – I’ll be honest! ) 
 7.Our Alzheimer Cruise is from January 3rd- 7th. – I will not have computer access while I am away – so my son (no vacation for him) will be posting the Blogs for me.
