UPDATE FROM SAN FRANCISCO – 10/26-28/07 Greetings from San Francisco. It has been an “adjustment”, to say the least, for Sid to be without a car, but he doesn’t want to spend our time out here arguing about my decision not to let him drive in this city, so he said he will keep quiet about it until we get home. He promises that I will hear about it then. And hear about it. And hear about it. I have promised myself not to think about that now. One day at a time. However, he does have a point when he says that never, in his worst times of driving aggressively, was he EVER as crazy as the cab drivers in SF. WHOA!!! They maneuver in and out of traffic like race car drivers. And dooooowwwwnnn those hills!! Some of them take perverse pleasure in scaring the pants off of the tourists. We have been here enough times to be used to the mountainous hills, but it is still frightening to teeter on the top at a red light, and fly down at what feels like 50 miles an hour. No need to explain the family tree – it’s too complicated- let’s just say that while we ladies were enjoying our day at the Tearoom yesterday, one of the Grandpas drew babysitting duty. He and 16 month old Ronin (Barbara’s nephew) came here to the hotel to spend time with Sid. Everyone is aware of Sid’s situation, and knew that he could not be left in charge of the baby himself, but he had an enjoyable afternoon keeping company with Grandpa and Ronin. Tomorrow, Joel and I are getting together for a marathon “teaching and brainstorming” session for the website. So except for the “driving issue”, everything seems to be going smoothly. I will keep checking in on the message boards. Feedback to joan@thealzheimerspouse.com
