JOAN’S BLOG – WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2008 – GROUNDHOG DAY, THE MOVIE – LAUGHTER WITH AN AD SPOUSE.

Sometimes you just have to laugh. Sunday morning, my hubby and I were sitting at the breakfast table, and he said to me, “When are we going to the Social Security office this week?” Together we decided that Wednesday would be the best day for both of us. “Okay”, he said. “Wednesday will be fine.”

On Monday morning, we were sitting at the breakfast table, and he asked me, “When are we going to the Social Security office this week?” I couldn’t help myself – I put my hands over my face, laughed and said , “Groundhog Day!” Confused, he asked me what I was talking about. I explained that in that movie, Bill Murray woke up every morning to the exact same events and questions, so I felt as if I were living the movie because…………..  “You  asked me that same question yesterday at breakfast, and my answer was the same -Wednesday.”

Tuesday morning, we sat down to breakfast
, and he said to me, “When are we going to the Social Security Office this week?” I’m sorry, but I started to laugh again   , put my hands over my face, and said, “Groundhog Day!”  He then told me that Groundhog Day wasn’t this week; I repeated exactly what I had said the day before about the movie, including the answer – Wednesday.

He said I was laughing at him, and his feelings were a bit hurt. I told him that I was not laughing at HIM. I was laughing at the absurdity of the situation, to which I am sure, you can all relate. It was better than crying.

If you are reading this on Wednesday morning……. we are at the Social Security Office.
