JOAN’S BLOG – MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2008 – DOCUMENTARY VIDEO ON ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE STARRING AN ALZHEIMER SPOUSE MEMBER

We have all watched news videos about Alzheimer’s Disease – many lacking in honesty and substance; some focusing only on the devastating end stage; some that are quite good and informative. One of our readers took part in a documentary that I felt told the true story of Alzheimer’s Disease, its effects on marriage, the patient, and the caregiver.

It highlights two couples and one woman caring for her mother. It is a story all of us are living in one stage or another right now. It validates our own emotions and struggles, and is an excellent resource to raise awareness in others.  After you watch it, I hope you will pass it on to everyone you know as an educational tool. Others may have a different opinion, but it is mine that this documentary is honest, informative, and heart wrenching.
