Members ProjectJOAN’S BLOG – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008 – "ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE – EARLY DETECTION MATTERS"– HELP BRING $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS IN FUNDING TO THIS PROJECT WITHOUT HAVING TO SPEND A PENNY OF YOUR OWN MONEY!

Those who follow my writings know that I am passionate about two projects – providing information and support to spouses of Alzheimer patients and educating the public on the early signs of Alzheimer’s Disease that may not yet be related to memory loss. It is vital to saving marriages, family relationships, planning for the future, and the relief that comes from a definitive diagnosis that finally explains your loved one’s erratic behavior, to recognize and diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease as early as possible. Click here and here for my most recent blogs on this subject.

American Express asked individuals and groups to submit proposals for worthwhile projects related to Alzheimer’s Disease. The winning projects will share $2.5 million dollars in funding. The top project will receive $1.5 million in funding.

My Alzheimer Chapter submitted the project  - “Alzheimer’s Disease – Early Detection Matters.”  No matter which chapter submitted the project, I would have promoted it, because I think it is so vital, particularly in the cases of EOAD, where it takes years for a proper diagnosis, because no one, including most physicians, suspects Alzheimer’s Disease in someone who is in their 40’s or early 50’s.

I invite you to CLICK HERE to read about this project. If you are an American Express cardholder, you may vote for it if you feel it is as worthwhile as I do. If you are NOT an American Express cardholder, you can sign in as a guest and "promote" the project via e-mails to friends and family. The best part is – it doesn’t cost any money to voteor promote!  We can do something to help fund a worthwhile Alzheimer’s project without having to dip into our dwindling bank accounts.

Thank you.
