JOAN’S BLOG – MONDAY, JUNE 4, 2012 – WAKE UP WORLD – ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IS TERMINAL – IN MEMORIAM

Please excuse the change from the promised topic for today. I will be writing about ways to fund help another day this week. The topic switch occurred because of the shock I received last night when I checked the message boards and found ANOTHER death notice. If you look at Page One of the boards, there are FIVE Alzheimer deaths – I repeat – FIVE on ONE PAGE.

At the end of each year, I write a Memorial blog in honor of those who lost their Alzheimer battle, but this is only June. I looked back to January 2012 to now, and I counted EIGHTEEN deaths. Then I thought to myself – This seems familiar. Didn’t I say the same thing last June, and write a memorial page at that time, lamenting the rapidly rising death rate? Yes, I did – Click here.

So here we are again, only ½ finished with 2012, paying tribute to EIGHTEEN more victims and their dedicated spousal caregivers. Hundreds of thousands of people read this website every month. Many never write on the message boards. Can you imagine how many more deaths from this scourge of a disease have occurred in the last 6 months throughout the world? The latest statistics I could find on total deaths in the United States from Alzheimer’s Disease was for the year 2008 – 82,435.

The average person on the street has no idea that Alzheimer’s Disease is terminal. Most people think Alzheimer’s Disease is only memory loss.  Let the world know - ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE KILLS.
